For some time now Americans have been told that rumors of a new currency for all of North America amount to nothing more than off-the-wall ideas posed by "conspiracy theorists" who believe that the leaders of the United States, Canada, and Mexico are planning and plotting to merge the three nations into a North American Union (NAU). Time has proved, however, that the creation of a North American currency is in the works, and is closely related to the NAU merger that is quickly, albeit quietly, taking place right before our eyes.
On November 27, 2006, for instance, Steve Previs of Jefferies International, a member of the London Stock Exchange, announced on CNBC that the American people ought to be concerned with the Amero.
Since the end of his tenure as president of Mexico, Vicente Fox has further proved that the intention to implement a new currency with his North American partners is indeed a reality. Appearing on Larry King Live, Mr. Fox was asked via an e-mail, "I would like to know how you feel about the possibility of having a Latin America united with one currency?" Fox responded to the question by saying that the plans were "long term" but that they stemmed from an idea that he and President Bush proposed.
Larry King then followed up with a question of his own:
KING: It's going to be like the euro dollar, you mean?
FOX: Well, that would be long, long term. I think the processes to go, first step into is trading agreement. And then further on, a new vision, like we are trying to do with NAFTA.
Thank you, Mr. Fox! You have confirmed for us that yes, there are plans to create a North American currency, and that it will be implemented in steps, the first of which is a free trade agreement or a "new vision" with NAFTA. Could that "new vision" be the creation of a North American Union? According to Fox's comments on yet another appearance in the United States, the answer could most justifiably be yes.
